Gang Definition

Company Definition of Gangs

 This is a group containing both juveniles and young adults, simply or complexly organ (community) or across neighborhoods and cities, diffuse or cohesive, with established rules of conduct engaged in a range of social and antisocial behaviors. The young gang engages in criminal behaviors which are generally more violent than those of the usual delinquent group of criminal organization. The gang must meet all four of the below criteria’s.

1. Have a name and/or an identifiable leadership (weak as it may be)
2. They claim a geographic area that they call their own
3. Meet on a continuous and/or regular basis
4. They are involved in juvenile delinquency and/or criminal activity

 All the above must be confirmed by law enforcement and/or a reliable source.

 Certain information is required in a community to determine whether or not a gang problem exists and, if it does, its scope and character. The problem is expected to vary in emerging and chronic communities.

 An important first step is to conduct an assessment of the targeted area. This assessment will cause assessor to understand the people, understand the conditions and understand why the conditions exist which gives clear insight to the nature of the problem in operational terms, i.e., to develop a definition, definition type of gangs, gang structure gang related

incidents, racial make-up sex, ethnicity etc and gang structure. An assessment helps determine the best strategy to apply to address the issue.
